
2022 NIGER DELTA WOMEN'S DAY OF ACTION FOR ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE
The forum aims at intensifying its campaigns on Climate Change and the harmful effects that the damaging oil and gas extraction has caused.
We put our mission in practice by wide range of strategies which include training and capacity building, advocacy, and awareness creation on Women's rights, environmental and climate justice, governance and democracy, while encouraging community ownership of initiatives, fostering women's unity, and building common women agenda across ethnic and linguistic divides, partnership building, research, and documentation.
Millions of people in Nigeria continue to suffer from poor access to water, sanitation and hygiene, and Worldwide, over 780 million people do not have access to an improved water source. An estimated 2.5 billion people lack access to improved sanitation (more than 35% of the world's population).
In Niger Delta, the case is worsen due to constant pollution of the environment by oil & gas activities. “Mere access is not enough. If the water isn’t clean, isn’t safe to drink or is far away, and if toilet access is unsafe or limited, then we’re not delivering.
13% Derivation Fund is the financial incentives paid to all Oil Producing Communities based on production inputs, to encourage and create an enabling environment for further production.
